Ants

Ants sure do like to lend a non-helping hand in the kitchen, among other places. Although household ants do carry bacteria, for the most part they're just a nuisance (except the pharaoh ant). In some cases, a nuisance that just won't go away, like that in-law that you just don't like. 

The list of ants that may invade your home include the argentine ant, little black ant, ghost ant, odorous house ant, pavement ant, acrobat ant, big-headed ant, pharaoh ant, and even the imported fire ant. Carpenter ants are structural pests so we don't talk about them.

Imported fire ants take up over 300 million acres in the US and they are very aggressive, they can both bite and sting. I'd say they're the most pain in the you know what ant that we have, but  the pharaoh ant has now entered this chat session. The pharaoh ant gets in your walls and they can survive even the most advanced pest control techniques. These ants have been found eating the flesh of burn victims and transferring diseases in hospitals. They can make a home anywhere, too. Luckily, these ants aren't encountered very often. 

Ants may be small, but in uncommon cases they can cause severe problems for homeowners.
