We get asked often where bed bugs come from, and the answer isn't all that simple. If you're looking for where they originated, well, we don't really know. What we do know is that the first writings about them came from both Egypt and Greece, around the same time.  If you're asking about the United States, they most likely arrived here in the 1800's, but the US had a brief period without them, from about 1953 - 1991. DDT was the responsible party for their brief demise. It didn't take a long time after DDT was banned for bed bugs to make a comeback, though.
