We keep what we do to a minimum, our belief is if you do too much you become a master of none. Items we routinely service are bed bugs. roaches, wasps, rodents, ants, and bees. At one time we also trapped unwanted guests such as raccoons and possums, but it wasn't cost effective.
There's no evidence that bed bugs spread disease. In extremely severe cases they can cause anemia, but that would take getting bitten nightly by a massive quantity of bed bugs. Such cases have only been scarcely documented in human history. The biggest threat is mental anguish, there's a large amount of data that suggests that bed bugs can cause severe distress, severe lack of sleep, anxiety and in some cases depression. They've even been known to cause "ghost" crawls This actually happens after the bed bugs have been eradicated, it causes the sensation of a bed bug crawling on you even though there is nothing there. Similar to a ghost limb, but the duration is generally short lived - lasting in most cases just a couple of weeks.
Yes, I get asked this a lot. Generally no they do not, it's not that they can't, they most certainly can. Mice are usually too busy trying to evade you than anything else. If you're able to catch one or corner it, it most likely will bite you in self-defense. If you find yourself bitten by a mouse seek medical attention as mice carry a lot of harmful bacteria. This is extremely rare as most people don't try to catch a mouse bare handed, or at all.
Yes, I've had to catch them. It's illegal to kill a snake in Arkansas unless it's in se;f-defense. I've been bitten a total of 63 times. Twice by copperheads, and the rest by rat snakes. One copperhead bite was a dry bite, the other - not so much. Every single snake I've had to remove, including the ones that bit me, were released alive and well.
Well, stink bugs really creep me out for some reason but probably the red-headed centipede. Aside from looking pretty scary, they actually pack a pretty heavy punch if you're bitten. I've never been bitten, personally, but I know people who have and each one says the same thing - it's extremely painful and the pain lasts for a while. No thank you.
No.
No. They are insectivores. We aren't licensed to remove them, that's a class 4 license that I have no interest in obtaining.. I think a class 6 license can do them as well, which I believe is for golf courses, but I'm not completely sure as I have no interest. I hold a class 2 license which is household pests and rodents. It goes back to what I always say, keep yourself in a small area and you'll be an expert, spread yourself out too far and you'll be a master of none. You'll see me say this on this site a lot because it always holds true.
This is one of those questions I'm always surprised when asked, and I get asked a lot. Sure, we can, but it's not really necessary. If you treat your household members properly with an approved product such as Rid, Nix, or Vamousse you can treat your bedding and other furniture with a product that contains permethrin, just make sure it's approved for this use. You'll have to treat it again a few days later to kill the hatchlings as permethrin isn't the best egg killer. Also, don't forget to remove the nits from hair, warm water will help with this. If you don't get them all out you'll just be doing the process over again in a short period of time.
No, but I have an unhealthy dislike for true yellow jackets. They're mean and will sting just because they can, they don't need a reason to. I once had a nest I was exterminating get the jump on me and get into my bee suit after I moved a rock, I'm not sure how many times I was stung but I was in extreme pain and very angry. I was so mad I through caution to the wind and stuck my hand in the ground and ripped the entire nest out of the ground, grabbed the queen and smashed her with a closed fist. I then finished killing the remaining wasps and drove to the hospital - not because I'm allergic, but because the pain elevated my blood pressure to unsafe levels. After that, I bought a new bee suit.
